Creating High Quality Affordable Housing For Musicians & Artists In East Austin

The Austin Art Village Vision

Austin musicians are the economic engine
behind the “Live Music Capital of the World,” yet many are being priced out and displaced. The SIMS Foundation reports that lack of safe, stable housing is a major contributor to mental illness among musicians.

We are helping the creative community grow
roots through affordable housing as Austin artists weave their thread of magic through the tapestry of our community. This vision is supported by BCDC’s previously acquired land, St. David’s Foundation pre-development funding, and our collaborative partners: Blackland Neighborhood Association, SIMS Foundation, The Other Ones Foundation, our development team, and neighbors like you.

“When musicians have stable housing, they don't just make music—they build community. They teach creativity to kids and adults alike. They create gatherings which brings people together in unity. Artists weave their thread of magic into the social fabric that holds us all together. That's what we're investing in.”
